louiselauriescott We are long time fans of Paul’s music but we thought he’d gone silent after a long period of no contact after we left South Africa for distant lands. We were wrong. Today stimulated by pulling out and listening to an old tape of one of Paul’s early albums, we made a wonderful discovery and learnt he was still producing great music. We’ve just purchased Skin with Skin and love it! It's new so we haven't yet chosen our favorite track.

hard hand holding me high hand hovering hard hand holding me high hand hovering empty demons cry fields of wild grass sing you can see stepping outside how the land lies stones containing dreams dark jeeps go by you can tell remaining outside how the land lies bottles of fire talk men comparing deeds dagger eyes threaten outside how the land lies words hang in wind long left to dry ghostly mouths teach you outside how the land lies hooves of four horses are drumming over plains of endless numbing hope of mothers' sons of coming home she keeps me in the shelter of her storm she keeps me as the skies revolve she can show me waiting inside how the land lies hard hand holding me high hand hovering hard hand holding me high hand hovering

winds older than all of us howling in the heart we are destabilised words burn like dust in the atmosphere whatever you say you see it's just one more just another step in the dark you give me what I give you you what have you given me I give you what you give me me what have you given me you give me what I give you you what have you given me I give you what you give me me what have you given me gambling your voice on the wilderness jackals hyaenas laughing harmonise the ransom for your loved one transubstantiates whatever you you you find I find it's just one more just another step in the dark you give me what I give you you what have you given me I give you what you give me me what have you given me you give me what I give you you what have you given me I give you what you give me me what have you given me we are the law all the law we are lower than law

go deliver the whole of your soul now for silver who - who will fathom the chasm of the whole of the heart of a believer there's steam on the skin the steam on the skin is rising whether you end or begin you lose or you win it's surprising living in no man's land days - days lie in in undying ruins roundabout time - time dreaming the breathing dream in time to another time what is is what is the latest sensation consumed - consumed in the conflagration living in no man's land honesty buying betrayal succeeding in order to fail every sign every day says for sale for sale now - now paying the rent to the men on the front of another life love - love not loving the lonely loving the lonely comes and goes envelop me now in your mystery I've forgotten the meaning of the cost of the loss of history living in no man's land

although you love me I love love alone I love love alone I only love alone I look like you and you look just like me we are sailors painting paintings of the sea luck is one and one is two with luck one is one and one is two for one with luck If you kiss me less I'll kiss you more biding time timelessly upon the shore I am the light I am the light I am the light Halaila yesh esh whether I'm up or down it's up to me it's up to you below above it's up to me you make me just as I make you too we are many singing songs about the few meaning only what you mean to be being only what you need to mean when you see me I am out of sight we are dreams inside the body of the night I am the light I am the light I am the light Halaila yesh esh I am the bow I am the arrow I am the arrow I am the bow I am the feather I am the flight I am the eyes I am the light I am the light I am the light I am the light Halaila yesh esh

I heard the mountain whisper to the moon he say I belong where I belong and the darkness came out of the west it was blowing I heard the desert singing to the seed he sing I belong where I belong and the dryness broke the holy ground it was burning when I look at you and I see your form from the window in the wall I see two hearts saving two souls somehow saving all I heard the eagle crying to the trees he call I belong where I belong nothing dared to move over the stone it was quiet I heard the woman weeping down below she cry I belong where I belong and my heart would surely break if I could not know you when I look at you and I see your form from the window in the wall I see two hearts saving two souls somehow saving all two hearts two souls saving all the heart is a window in the wall

the question of the empty heart is a question of the ground when there's nothing but a hollow echo for an answer the bridegroom waiting for his bride will never understand she might give herself to anyone who wants her today will come today will go a promise of the breath who'd have recognised a different sun if it had risen tomorrow is just yesterday while the heart remains in chains every prisoner a warder of the prison on the road lies the card forgotten where she fell queen of diamonds with a tale of hearts to tell the pain of him who lost the world makes others stand amazed the centuries are nothing nothing within hours parents at the cemetery are beyond the reach of men when their children lie beyond the reach of flowers on the road lies the card forgotten where she fell queen of diamonds with a tale of hearts to tell peace upon you and your loved ones on your day of rest peace descend upon your hands and on your labour call to mind the smiling eyes of your enemy call to mind the smiling of your neighbour on the road lies the card forgotten where she fell queen of diamonds with a tale of hearts to tell

leaning on the wind's arm looking at the moon's eye tying up the night's hair sighing like the sand I saw you at the sky's side only for a moment overheard the song you were singing to your love your clothes were like a rainbow painting the horizon day and night together colouring your face turning as the world turns you turned towards where I was nothing but the stillness carrying your song we are king and queen of silence we are histories of sound we are burning yet we do not burn we sanctify the ground we are king and queen of silence we are the time we are within we are Egypt's ancient statues we are touching skin with skin we are skin I moved between the shadows panting like the future stumbling over stars that were lying in my way I saw your eyes with my eyes eyes which were my own eyes all that I remember is the song that I was singing we are king and queen of silence we are histories of sound we are burning yet we do not burn we sanctify the ground we are king and queen of silence we are the time we are within we are Egypt's ancient statues we are touching skin with skin we are skin we are king and queen of silence

about

This is an album recorded with a group of backing musicians from many countries and mixed in South Africa. It's full of echoes of the sounds and shades of the colours that make up the world it springs from, recognising that eyes, ears, fingers and feet define lines on the earth, but holding no border to its heart.
